
Sagar Karki
Founder
Sagar Karki is a Civil Engineer, environmental professional, and youth activist with extensive experience in sustainable development, waste management, and civic engagement. He is the founder and former President of Better Chitwan, a youth-led movement dedicated to environmental protection, community accountability, and positive social transformation.
With a professional background in Civil Engineering and an MBA, Sagar brings over seven
years of experience managing initiatives related to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH),
high-tech agriculture, and urban environmental improvement. He currently serves as the
Program Coordinator for CAR Nepal (Composting and Recycling for Household and
Industrial Waste Management) under Nepal Development Society (NeDS), where he works
to strengthen collaborative and sustainable waste management systems in Chitwan.
Through Better Chitwan, Sagar has led impactful environmental advocacy and research
initiatives, including the “Nadi Sang Hami” (With Our Rivers) project, which examined
pollution patterns along the Narayani River and highlighted urgent environmental concerns
such as plastic waste, untreated sewage, and ecosystem degradation.
A strong advocate for sustainable urban development, Sagar actively promotes progressive
waste management solutions, emphasizing household composting, recycling systems,
community participation, and long-term environmental policy reform.
Passionate about creating resilient and environmentally responsible communities, Sagar
continues to inspire youth leadership and collective action for a cleaner and more sustainable
future.

Sajita Poudel
Board Member
Sajita Poudel has a master’s degree in humanitarian and social science. She has been actively advocating for social causes and contributing to society for a very long time. She is a very kind and motivating person for everyone around her. She currently works at maali dai as a sales manager. she holds an impressive knowledge about plants and gardening.

Karuna Devkota
Board Member
Karuna Devkota is an experienced media and communication professional with 14 years of expertise across radio, television, print, and digital platforms. She has built a strong career in journalism, content creation, media advocacy, and impactful storytelling.
Karuna is widely recognized for her work in strategic communication and storytelling, particularly in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Through initiatives such as Gulabi Sambad, she has contributed significantly to media advocacy, reporting, and awareness-building on SRHR issues in Nepal. She has also led and co-produced innovative podcasts and programs that connect with diverse Nepali audiences.
In addition to her media career, Karuna is an academic professional and serves as a faculty member at St. Xavier’s College, where she teaches communication and media studies. Passionate about both media and education, she continues to inspire through her work in storytelling, advocacy, and academic instruction.

Ajay DC
Board Member
Ajay Kumar Yadav is a Ph.D. scholar in entomology, a graduate of Agriculture and Forestry University, co-founder of Better Chitwan, and founder of Maali Dai. His work focuses on honeybee health, pest management, pollinator conservation, and sustainable agriculture. He is committed to using science and social service to create positive change in communities and support agricultural development.

Sujata Devkota
Board Member
Sujata Devkota, an MBA graduate student who is a florist and owns her plant nursery by the name of Banaspati Bagaan. She has been actively volunteering in social work for more than a decade. She likes reading books and reviewing them. She is an excellent mass communicator and a public speaker.

Dr. Subash Sapkota
Board Member
Dr. Subash Sapkota is a veterinary doctor, co-founder of Better Chitwan, area sales manager at New Hope Agro Business Nepal, and veterinary instructor dedicated to improving animal health and welfare. Along with his professional work, he is actively involved in social work and passionate about team development and leadership. He believes in working collaboratively to create positive change in both the veterinary field and the wider community.

Bimochan Acharya
Board Member
Bimochan Acharya is an event organizer, entrepreneur, and youth leader with extensive experience in event management, marketing, branding, and strategic communication. He has successfully planned and coordinated a wide range of corporate, educational, social, and community events, bringing together diverse stakeholders and creating impactful experiences.
As a professional in event management and marketing, Bimochan has worked with businesses, educational institutions, and organizations to organize events, develop promotional campaigns, strengthen brand presence, and enhance audience engagement. His expertise includes event planning, sponsorship coordination, public relations, marketing strategy, and business networking.
Beyond his professional career, Bimochan is actively involved in youth leadership and community development. He previously served as the Coordinator of Better Chitwan and has held leadership positions in various social and service organizations. Through these roles, he has contributed to initiatives focused on youth empowerment, education, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
Driven by a passion for leadership, innovation, and community engagement, Bimochan continues to create platforms that connect people, inspire collaboration, and contribute to the growth and development of society.

Roshni Shrestha
Board Member
Roshani Shrestha is a founding member of Better Chitwan and an interdisciplinary social science researcher whose work lies at the intersection of fisheries science, human livelihoods, climate change, and food systems. She holds a B.S. degree from Agriculture and Forestry University, Nepal, and an M.S. degree from Michigan State University.
She is currently a research specialist at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, William & Mary, where she contributes to a vulnerability assessment project on the Chesapeake Bay region and water resources conservation issues in Nepal.
